Martifer Solar’s Santa Monica Blue Bus project, an 80 kW system that will generate a significant portion of the docking station’s energy, is now more than halftway through the panelization process. The system is expected to be fully operational by mid-summer. The Big Blue Bus is both a local and bus rapid transit service, operating throughout Santa Monica and surrounding neighborhoods of Los Angeles County. Our engineers custom-tailored the 80 kW system, comprised of 528 180-Watt panels, to generate a significant portion of the energy used by the docking station where the city services and maintains their fleet of 240 busses. The energy created by the system will help the Big Blue Bus, and Santa Monica, take a major step towards energy independence.
